In 1997 the Brooklyn Brewery in Williamsburg held a competition inviting artists to create drawings on the back of beer coasters.The jury consisting of Joe Armhein of Peirogi 2000, Charlotta Kotick of the Brooklyn Museum and the designer Milton Glaser, awarded this project first prize. The drawing was actually done by a wind up machine designed to make abstract dot patterns.
